THe Problem
Once emergency humanitarian medical intervention has been provided , it is mostly over... but some children are left with long-term conditions that make daily life very difficult. In overcrowded refugee settlements and camps, space is confined and accidents happen more often, such as hot water or fire-related burns. Rehabilitation and surgery are needed to help affected children regain use of their limbs and also gain confidence for those with extensive scars.
The Solution
INARA (International Network for Aid, Relief and Assistance) meaning “ray of light” in Arabic, provides access to life-saving and life-altering medical assistance to children impacted by war. They step in to fill the gaps in access to medical treatment when not provided by other institutions or non-profits, including financial assistance where needed. They complement pre-existing medical facilities by building partnerships in order to secure reduced or pro bono care from Beirut, Lebanon, initially.
Why walk the talk supports inara
70% of INARA’s budget goes directly towards medical programme costs (the average treatment per child is around £2,800 per child)
They don’t compete with but complement pre-existing medical facilities
Their work consists in helping children deeply affected by foresee a brighter future where they will be the shapers of a new society
